A few tips for the trip

Hi.  Yes, as the title suggests, the idea is that this post is helpful in making the trip as painless as possible.
Here are some suggestions for your hand luggage:

  • Have a Bic pen handy.
  • Get a small pencil case and put your toothbrush and toothpaste inside.  This will be particularly useful during the long 13-to-14- hour flight to Madrid and back.
  • Put your trip Journal in your bag so that you can work and play with it during the long flight.  Make notes on whatever catches your attention so you can remember them and share them later.
  • Make sure that you have tissues at hand.
  • A cereal bar or two can help while you wait for your next flight.
  • Always carry some rubber bands with you.  You never know what you will need to bind.  For example, a book, your passport, a plastic bag, etc.
  • Keep a little money in your pocket for small purchases.  The last thing you want to do is go around showing your money. Distribute your money in small quantities in different places in your handbag and in your pockets. Believe it or not, there are thieves in every airport around the world.  Don't make their "job" easy.
  • Make sure your hand bag is not too full so that it is comfortable to carry.
Some more general suggestions:
  • During the flight you should stand up every two hours and go for a walk around the cabin.  It's important that you exercise your legs.
  • During a flight you should always remember that there are other people around you who want to have a quiet trip.  Do not raise your voice and keep a respectful attitude at all times.  Help/Remind your friends to do the same.
  • Before you get off the plane you must remember to check the seat pocket in front of you.  Many times  people forget important documents and/or valuable objects inside that pocket.  Don't let it be you.
  • Always, always, stay with the group.  Speak to your teachers whenever you need to go to the toilet at airports, restaurants, museums, etc., so that other students can come with you.
  • Always have a watch or clock on you so that you can always be on time.
